How resin extraction is done

An operation that brings good results for the industry and the environment!

Resin tapping is the process by which, after the pine forest has matured, we make insertions in the bark of the tree, which we call grooves. The tree releases resin, which is collected and sent to our factory to be transformed into a series of products. The resin tapping process takes many years. When it is finished, trees are harvested to make way for seedlings, perpetuating the species.

STAGE 1

Cultivation

Seedlings are grown and planted. We then monitor the growth of the forest.

STAGE 2

Thinning

We carry out thinning to reduce stand density and allow the remaining plants to grow better.

STAGE 3

Pruning

We prune the tree to make sure that the wood will be clean and free of knots.

STAGE 4

Grooves

About 10 years later, we install bags on the trees and periodically make cuts (grooves) in the bark to keep the resin ducts open.

STAGE 5

Collection

The resin of the trees is expelled, accumulated in the bags and periodically collected.

STAGE 6

Storage

The resin is stored in tanks or barrels and transported to the factory.

STAGE 7

Production

Ultimately, the resin is used in the making of a wide range of products.
